Character Spotlight ~ Amy Wallace's Clint and Sara Rollins

Today the spotlight shines on........................................Clint and Sara Rollins

Amy Wallace is simply one of my most favourite people! Her heart for God and her family is just an amazing thing and you can see that in her latest book
, Healing Promises.

Check out her behind the scenes look at the marriage of Clint and Sara as it faces its biggest test.....

Brief physical description

Clint Walker Rollins is a tall Texas cowboy who loves his boots, jeans, and Stetson. (His wife Sara does too.) He has dark brown hair and eyes and commands respect
wherever he goes. But he’s a man of deep faith who loves to laugh and play practical jokes, so that shows in his countenance too.

Sara Rollins is an Irish princess with deep green eyes and a fiery red-headed personality to go with it. Like her hus
band, she’s strong and dependable, smart and wise. All that shows in her eyes and smile.

Actor/famous person who might resemble her/him

Finding Clint was the hardest of all, since I don’t have pictures or even a person in mind when I write the characters. But Sean Bean in the movie Flightplan comes semi-close.

Melina Kanakaredes from CSI New York looks a little like Sara.

Rel: Couldn't use the one Amy sent so I liked this one...just imagine red hair!

Strengths and weaknesses

Clint’s strength of character is a positive until his self reliance kicks in and takes over. His biggest strength is his faith and his love for his family.
Sara’s strength is her compassion and wisdom. Her weakness is her Irish stubbo
rnness—something I have a good deal of experience seeing in the mirror. ;-)

Quirk (if any)

Clint’s quirk is his practical-joker sense of humor and always ribbing his best friend Steven. It doesn’t seem to match his outward appearance, but to me it makes him a well-rounded guy.

Sara’s dichotomy is that no matter how strong she appears, she’d much rather have Clint by her side. As a doctor, she has great bedside manners and is friendly to everyone, but inside she’d rather be doing solo activities or with her fa
mily.

Your inspiration for the character

Clint’s character grew out of a question I posed to a federal agent about how a strong, male a
gent would handle a cancer diagnosis. He said many would end their life before they’d waste away from a disease. So I wanted to find out how a strong Christian man might face the same dilemma. And I wanted to explore what it means to believe God is good when life says otherwise.

Sara became real to me when I realized her struggle with who she depends on so mirrors my own wrestling with God. At first, she was my working out another fear, that of losing my husband. But the more I got to know her, the more I heard God speaking to my own heart about where I place my dependence.

Synopsis

Facing a new threat.
When FBI Agent Clint Rollins takes a bullet during a standoff, it might just save his life. But not even the ugly things he’s seen during his years working in the Crimes Against Children Unit could prepare him for the overwhelming powerlessness of hospital tests revealing an unexpected diagnosis. If only Sara weren’t retreating into doctor mode…he needs his wife now more than ever.

Frozen in fear.
Sara Rollins is an oncologist with a mission–beating cancer when she can, easing her patients’ suffering at the very least. Now the life of her tall Texan husband is at stake. She never let the odds steal her hope before, but in this case, the quest
ion of God’s healing promises is personal. Can she hold on to the truth she claimed to believe?

Faith under fire.
As Clint continues to track down a serial kidnapper despite his illness, former investigations haunt his nightmares, pushing him beyond solving the case into risking his life and career. Clint struggles to believe God is still the God of miracles. Especially when he needs not one, but two. Everything in his life is reduced to one all-important question: Can God be trusted?
