I have always been told i was born in the wrong era. I love historical fiction and although it was a much harder life i have always been fascinated by reading about the wagon train experiences and starting a new life in a new frontier. Life was simpler back then and there was room for everyone. To see the west the way it was would have been worth living 150 years back.

so i'm not aussie and i already own the book but i wanted to answer the question :)
i wish i could have been around 150 years ago b/c i want to wear the clothes. in the movies it's so romantic when the female has to pick up her skirts and run to catch the guy. lol. and yes i know how impractical it would be to have to wear long heavy skirts to do all the chores and everything.

I love the clothes!!!!!! Very impractical in an Aussie summer(any summer), but they're gorgeous! And so feminine!!!!

I'm another who would've loved to have lived 150 years ago just for the clothes. And also things were so much simpler. The expectation that you should have it all, do it all and be all just didn't exist. Boy was I born in the wrong era!
I love the clothes too. I have always enjoyed wearing dresses and people comment on how dressed up I look when I do wear them. However, I just find them really comfortable. I've always wished I lived back then for the dresses!
because 150 years ago reliance and time with family and friends was a much more important institution, now a days computers, phones and television have replaced the need for so much face to face interaction
I loved the family connection they seem to have. Although to be honest I would have had to be born in a rich family, poverty wouldn't have suited me I am sure. LOL.

I love the simplicity and the pared-down elements of life in those days. Things were simpler because there was just no time for the unimportant stuff!
