Unwrapping Christmas by Lori Copeland ~ Tracy's Take

Rel here:~ If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!! I'm not sure about you but stores here have broken out the Christmas decorations for purchase, way too early if you ask me! So instead, here is a little treat as Christmas nears in the shape of a book which actually released last year from Zondervan ~ enjoy Tracy's Take!

What is it About?

Rose Bergmen is busy. Along with her regular hectic schedule of volunteer and church activities, Christmas is right around the corner bringing its share of extra tasks. Rose seems to be able to find the time for the myriad of unexpected requests for her time and attention, but she just can’t seem to find a moment to cook a meal for her family, let alone sit down together to eat it. Rose feels the pressure of all the extra little things that are asked of her until she is forced, unexpectedly, to slow down and allow her family to get involved.

What I thought:

If ever there was a story to remind a busy woman that there is more to life than ‘doing’, ‘Unwrapping Christmas’ is it. Lori Copeland has managed to pack this short novella with a lot of punch. I easily identified with the pressure Rose finds herself under, struggling to keep up with the demands placed upon her. I ached for Joey, Eric and Anna as they sought her attention. And I understood the feeling that ‘something’s gotta give…but what?!’. I loved the way Lori took a reasonably small incident and used that to help Rose re-focus. The issue of serving God is one that Rose struggles with throughout ‘Unwrapping Christmas’. Through Rose’s life, Lori reveals the simple truth that God expects us to take care of the things He entrusts to us, without running ourselves ragged in the process and depriving others of the opportunity to serve and bless others.
