Coming mid 2012 from B&H Publishing

Check out these new titles releasing from B&H Fiction, mid next year.
Love the cover of Hide and Seek and can't wait to read it!  Jamie and Pamela are favourite authors of mine, too.  Not keen on Kim and Mindy's cover unfortunately :(
How about you?

Juliette Taylor walked away from her career as a supermodel twenty-five years ago. Now approaching fifty – an emotionally complex milestone -- she co-owns a beauty supply company that makes skincare products for salons and spas. Her niche is pampering Christian women who usually spend more time caring for others than for themselves under the slogan:

Isn’t it time someone took care of YOU for a change?

When Juliette arrives at the Palm Grotto Spa to host a spiritual retreat, she runs into an old modeling colleague, Raven, who had always been disliked in the industry for many reasons. She isn’t there for the retreat; in fact, her presence at the spa is somewhat mysterious.

Not long after Raven makes a cryptic threat to Juliette, the unsympathetic back-then beauty is found dead, poisoned by something in the green clay of a chai soy wrap. The following morning, a banner for the retreat has been unceremoniously altered:

It’s your turn to be nurtured, to be restored . . . to be murdered.

Suspicion is directed at Juliette who has history with Raven and certainly knows how to use beauty products. But for murder?! Now she must find the real killer before the police really take care of her.

The River Rose by Gilbert Morris

Life hasn’t been easy for Jeanne Bettencourt, a widow approaching thirty and struggling to provide for her eight-year-old daughter. But hope arrives in the form of the Helena Rose, a steamboat she unexpectedly inherits from a distant, departed relative. Jeanne’s father had captained a similar vessel and taught her how to pilot a steamer along the banks of Memphis. She’s looking forward to a renewed livelihood on the mighty Mississippi.

However, as plans are made, news comes of another heir to the Helena Rose -- a tough man named Clint Hardin -- and a clause in the will that says claimants of the estate must live aboard the boat. Jeanne, a Christian woman, makes it clear she won’t stay with a man who is not her husband. But both are desperate for work, so they agree to keep their distance as Clint occupies the lower deck and Jeanne takes the captain’s quarters.

As they restore the Helena Rose, the slowly softening Clint becomes attracted to Jeanne -- who is now being courted by a wealthy plantation owner. With her family and future at stake, the desires of Jeanne’s heart are duly complex. Only her simple faith can navigate her through what’s about to happen.

Amelia Lennon no longer wears a uniform or carries a weapon. An Army trained Foreign Affairs Officer, she’s negotiating a dispute with the Kyrgyzstan government that threatens to leave the U.S. without an airbase in that region. She traded her gun for the power of words, but now she needs both.

Tethered by her impulsive promise to marry Lord John Lemon—the path of least resistance—Alexandria Featherstone sets off toward Iceland in search of her parents with a leaden heart. A glimpse of her guardian, the Duke of St. Easton—the path less traveled by—on Dublin’s shore still haunts her.

Will he come after her? Will he drag her back to London, quelling her mission to rescue her treasure-seeking parents, or might he decide to throw caution to the wind and choose Foy Pour Devoir: “Faith for Duty,” the St. Easton motto. The Featherstone motto Valens et Volens: “Willing and Able,” beats in her heart and thrums through her veins. She will find her parents and find their love, no matter the cost.

The powerful yet wing-clipped Duke of St. Easton has never known the challenge that has become his life since hearing his ward’s name. Alexandria Featherstone will be the life or the death of him. Only time and God’s plan will reveal just how much this man can endure for the prize of love.

At 8:47 A.M. on Wednesday, October 12, 1977, new-to-town businessman Bingham Murdock flew his small plane into New Orleans, banking it in such a way that a ray of sunshine shot through the city at light speed.

Amalise Catoir saw the flash from her sixteenth floor law office window. Finally feeling alive after the death of her abusive husband, she imagined seeing the plane was a fate for her eyes only; a special connection between the unknown giver and she, the recipient of light. But someone else saw it, a six-year-old Cambodian refugee in foster care for whom a sudden burst of brightness reminds him of artillery fire.

Destined to cross paths with the man and the child, Amalise doesn’t yet know the deeper spiritual lesson she will learn: that we are responsible not only for the things we do, but also for the things that we don’t.

Book trailers from B&H Fiction

There is no question in my mind that B&H Publishing have the best book trailers in the business!  Here are two, very different trailers, one short and one long, for 2012 releases for Maj. Jeff Struecker and Brandilyn Collins.

I'd love to know your thoughts on trailers ~ do you watch them, do they impact whether you will purchase a book or not?  What do you think of the ones below?

Hide and Seek by Maj. Jeff Struecker & Alton Gansky

Q&A with Major Jeff Struecker

Husband, father, pastor, soldier and author, Maj. Jeff Struecker, combines his experiences in these roles to write high octane military thrillers, about a spec ops team and their battles on mission and at home.  Grab his books and enjoy this Q&A!

What appeals to you most about writing fiction?

There is an audience of men that only read fiction.  I want to be able to reach them with an exciting story about how faith and life collide with one another.

Why Christian fiction?

Because Jesus Christ is my king I want to serve him in all that I do, that includes in the material that I write.

Name five things you “can’t” live without

My wife, children, church, Bible, and a good pair of running shoes

Favourite TV show

Jeopardy.

You have no doubt travelled extensively as a soldier ~ what is one place you would like to go back to as a tourist?

I would love to go visit the mountains of Afghanistan when no one is shooting at me.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

My heroes have always been soldiers.

What are two things people might be surprised to know about you?

Unfortunately there is not much about me that most folks don’t already know.

Have you ever worked with Australian soldiers?  Your thoughts?!

I have worked with some of the Australian special operations forces.  They are some of the most committed and talented warriors I have even known.

Fallen Angel

Which character do you connect with the most?

I connect with Sergeant Major Eric Moyer and with J.J. Bartley.

How easy/difficult has it been to incorporate your personal experiences as a soldier into your novels?

It has been pretty easy to use my experiences as a soldier to come up with the plot of a new novel.  However, it is difficult to incorporate some of my experiences in special operations without giving away national security secrets.

What was your favourite scene to write in Fallen Angel

Believe it or not, it was the epilogue.  I think this portrays the tension between the demands of family and the country at the same time.

What has been your favourite experience in your novel writing journey?

It has been seeing guys who would never read the average Christian non-fiction book pick up one of these books and get drawn into the plot while at the same time reading the message of how faith in Jesus Christ can change a man’s life.

What’s next in your writing pipeline?

Alton Gansky and I are working on the follow up to Fallen Angel right now.

Thanks Jeff ~ appreciate your time :)

Check back soon for my review of Fallen Angel with a great giveaway from the fabulous folk at B&H Fiction

Over the Edge by Brandilyn Collins

Torn from the front lines of medical debate and the author’s own experiences with Lyme disease, Over the Edge is riveting fiction, full of twists and turns-and powerful truths about today’s medical field.

Janessa McNeil knew the Lyme War was real. After all, her husband, Dr. Brock McNeil, a researcher and professor at Stanford University’s Department of Medicine, specializes in tick-borne diseases-especially Lyme. He concludes that Chronic Lyme disease doesn’t exist. Even as patients across the country are getting sicker, Brock’s committee is about to announce its latest findings—which will further seal the door shut for Lyme treatment. Yes, Janessa knew about the Lyme War. She just never expected to be part of it. But one embittered man is out to prove the expert wrong by infecting Jannie with Lyme disease. When she falls ill, he states his demands: convince her husband to publicly reverse his stand on Lyme, or the next one to fall ill will be their daughter. But Jannie’s marriage is already rocky, and she’s so sick she can hardly move or think.

As her husband and his colleagues deny she has Lyme at all, will this pervasive disease—and the bitter battle surrounding it—cost her everything?

Pompeii by T LHigley

Pompeii, a city that’s many things to many people. For Cato, it’s the perfect escape from a failed political career in Rome. A place to start again, become a winemaker. But when a corrupt politician wrongfully jails Cato’s sister, he must oust the man from power to save her.

For Ariella, Pompeii is a means to an end. As a young Jew, she escaped the fall of Jerusalem only to endure slavery to a cruel Roman general. She ends up in Pompeii, disguised as a young man and sold into a gladiator troupe. Her anger fuels her to fight well, hoping to win the arena crowds and reveal her gender at the perfect time. Perhaps then she will win true freedom. But evil creeps through the streets of Pompeii. Political corruption, religious persecution, and family peril threaten to destroy Ariella and Cato, who are thrown together in the battle to survive.

As Vesuvius churns with deadly intent, the two must bridge their differences to save the lives of those they love, before the fiery ash buries Pompeii, leaving the city lost to the world.

Fallen Angel by Maj. Jeff Struecker & Alton Gansky

Major Jeff Struecker (a real life Black Hawk Down veteran) and his award-winning coauthor tell a space-based intelligence story of intense extremes in their new novel, Fallen Angel, named for the “Angel-12” American satellite that is ambushed by China and falls 22,000 miles to land in remote Siberia.

U.S. Sgt. Major Eric Moyer and his Special Ops unit are deployed to find Angel-12 and keep its advanced nuclear fuel from enemy hands-and there are many. A Russian shadow government bent on restoring the former USSR pursues the satellite as does the Chinese special forces group that knocked it from the sky. A rash of military and domestic hostage concerns ensues as the stark truth looms: three nations are racing to the satellite, but only one will get there first.

Dancing on Shattered Glass by Pamela Binnings Ewen

In the steamy city of New Orleans in 1974, Amalise Catoir sees Phillip Sharp as a charming, magnetic artist, unlike any man she has known. A young lawyer herself, raised in a small-town Christian home and on the brink of a career with a large firm, she is strong and successful, yet sometimes too trusting and whimsical. Ama’s rash decision to marry Phillip proves to be a mistake as he becomes overly possessive, drawing his wife away from family, friends, and her faith. His insidious, dangerous behavior becomes her dark, inescapable secret.

In this lawyer’s unraveling world, can grace survive Ama’s fatal choice? What would you do when prayers seem to go unanswered, faith has slipped away, evil stalks, and you feel yourself forever dancing on shattered glass?

Blaze of Glory by Capt Jeff Struecker & Alton Gansky with giveaways

Synopsis:~

United States Sgt. Major Eric Moyer and his Special Operations unit have been called in to track down a wealthy Egyptian terrorist who is believed to have sordid ties to a sudden increase in female suicide bombers. Chasing El-Sayyed through Italy, they soon gain interconnected details about a Mexican drug lord who is plotting to kill the U.S. and Mexican presidents. Now Moyer and his team must stop not one, but two madmen on separate continents. And with a new member of the unit hiding his struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder, a third problem begins to boil.

My take:~

It's been my experience that sequels rarely match the unique appeal of an excellent first novel. Blaze of Glory has knocked that theory on its head! The now Major Jeff Struecker and Alton Gansky return with their Special Ops team of Boss, Shaq, Junior, Colt and Doc on a more intense, treacherous and heart pounding mission as they race to eliminate the rising threat of female suicide bombers. Tactical weaponry, the blooding of a new team member and the ticking time bomb of one soldier's undisclosed PTSD, combine in a vivid, adrenaline infused story guaranteed to keep you up late. With more attention paid to the motives and methods of the terrorists and their helpless pawns, Blaze of Glory is a military thriller to be reckoned with. Just like Colt, the only Christian on the team, the faith elements are penetrating yet not abrasive, thought provoking rather than overbearing. I highly recommend this book to any reader who craves a thriller of unprecedented authenticity and pulsating action.

With thanks to B&H for my review copy

Certain Jeopardy by Jeff Struecker & Alton Gansky plus Open Giveaway

Synopsis:~

Six American men live behind a protective facade, their real work hidden from neighbors and friends. Different in countless ways, they are intimately the same in one: at any moment their lives can be altered with a phone call, and their actions may change the world. They are Special Ops. And one team's mission is about to hit certain jeopardy status when the discovery of an Al Qaeda base in Venezuela becomes secondary to thwarting the transport of a nuclear weapons expert from that training camp to Iran.

My take:~

Sit down and strap yourself in for this adrenaline filled story of a Special Ops team doing what they do best. Eye opening and thrilling Jeff Struecker and Alton Gansky combine combat experience with writing skill and show it off to full advantage. I was anxious to get beyond the early chapters and into the thick of things but getting to know the individual soldiers, their nicknames and personalities, is essential to the reading experience. While this book appealed to my adventurous side it also connected emotionally as the plight of the soldier's loved ones is also laid bare. Dealing with what life throws at us all, but having to leave with little or no notice to places unknown other than the certainty of danger, the sacrifices of our armed forces and their families is highlighted with accuracy and intensity. Leavened with humour and spiritual insight this book will appeal to both men and women. Certain Jeopardy is an excellent first foray into fiction by Captain Jeff Struecker - I hope he will be back with Sgt. Major Eric Moyer's band of brothers soon!
