Seeds of Summer by Deborah Vogts with Aussie Giveaway

A heart-warming contemporary romance set in the Flint Hills of Kansas where a former rodeo queen abandons her dreams in order to care for her deceased father’s ranch and her two half-siblings, only to realize with the help of a young new pastor that God can turn even the most dire circumstances into seeds of hope.

Spanning the Seasons of the Tallgrass, each story in this series reveals the struggle of the people who live there and the dreams they have for the land until they come full-circle in a never-ending cycle, just as man comes full-circle in his understanding of God.

My take:~

I really enjoyed returning to Deborah Vogts' Seasons of the Tallgrass series with Seeds of Summer, with the story of Natalie and Jared. Deborah excels at writing unique yet realistic characters. Jared's awkwardness with ranch life, vulnerability and even a propensity to sunburn is a refreshing change to the usual macho hero. His conflicted feelings for Natalie, who does not share his faith, are genuine rather than pious. Natalie's independance and occasional poor choices, lend a real authenticity to the characterisation as does her faith journey. This is a delightful romance and although the ends were tied up a little too neatly for my liking, Seeds of Summer was satisfying and shows Deborah's growth as a writer. More please, Deborah!

I hadn't heard of this author before reading this. I'll have to keep an eye out for the books. Won't enter the giveaway though - I have this little obsession with having the complete series... so since this isn't book one I'd better not get it. =) Thanks for the great reviews Rel.

Jenny & Jenny ~ you will enjoy this one, for sure.

Hey Heather - I so know what you mean about series but these can be read as stand alone novels, for sure :)

I know, and I love it when they're written in such a way, but *I* still know it's part of a series, and I want the complete set. :) Usually, they have to be all in the same "edition" as well so the covers match! I have a complete set of three series of books in which I had to fill spaces with different "versions". The books with the covers that don't match jump out at me each time I go to the bookshelf and I have to resist the urge to hop on ebay and find a second hand copy of the ones that would match! That's a little hard to justify when I could buy a book I haven't read yet. After all, it's the same story inside! One of my many quirks. :D
