Character spotlight ~ Lisa Harris' Catherine Morgan

Today the spotlight shines on..................Catherine Morgan

Lisa Harris is wife, mother, missionary and writer (and no doubt a few other things as well!). Her latest book is one of the Love Finds You series from Summerside Press, an historical romance, Love Finds You in Revenge, Ohio.

Enjoy this insight into her character, Catherine, convinced she will remain plain and single her whole life!

Over to you, Lisa:~

Brief physical description of your main character

Catherine doesn't have to look into a mirror to know that her own complexion has one too many freckles, cheeks that are far too rosy, or that her sensible clothes emphasize her status of a practical minded--twice-jilted--spinster. But while she thinks she's plain, Corbin Hunter not only remembers the girl he fell in love with, he sees her as anything but plain.

Actor/famous person who might resemble her

I chose Ashley Judd because of similar features, but also the determination in her eyes that I see in Catherine.

Strengths and weaknesses

Catherine's love for family is one of her greatest strengths, but her determination to keep her family together at all costs might also prove to be her greatest weakness.

Quirk (if any)

She's terrified of ostriches and has a weakness for sweets.

Your inspiration for the character

I wanted a character who wasn't perfect, and while Catherine is a strong heroine with a strong personality, it was important for me that was also human and had some flaws. I loved watching her grow throughout the story and how in the end she found her source of strength in God instead of in herself.

Background to the story

At twenty-five, Catherine Morgan is hardly an old maid, but she’s given up on marriage and instead manages the family’s general store in the small town of Revenge, Ohio. Bound by a promise to care for her three sisters until they marry, she’ll do anything it takes to keep them safe. However, the town’s sheriff has evidence that may stand in the way of her sister’s happiness and her own. Revenge can be stronger than love. Will a vow for vengeance arrest Catherine’s third chance for love?

Thanks for sharing, Lisa! I'm glad you enjoyed your safari :)

On Monday, the spotlight shines on Tamara Leigh's Piper & Axel from Leaving Carolina ~ you will not want to miss it!
