Faith 'n' Fiction Saturday (on Sunday!)

Here's another question from the delightful Amy:~

Today's Topic

It doesn't take long hanging around people who read Christian fiction before the usual names come up. Janette Oke. Francine Rivers. Karen Kingsbury. Dee Henderson. Ted Dekker. Frank Peretti. These are the best-sellers...the authors everyone knows. But there are so many authors who get less coverage but have huge amounts of talent. Today, choose either an author you think deserves a wider readership or a book you wish more people had read and share about them on your blog! Because as you all know, we need to add to our TBR (to be read) lists!

My response:~

Well, I would love it introduce to many authors who write brilliantly but today I'll pick Nicole Baart, author of After the Leaves Fall, Summer Snow and the just released The Moment Between, endorsed by none other than Francine Rivers.
Nicole's writes emotive, beautiful prose and delves deep into the mind and soul. My review of The Moment Between can be seen now at TitleTrakk.com and it will be posted here next week. It may very well be the best book I read in 2009. Nicole really is an author not to be missed!

Who would you highlight?

F.P. Lione wrote a fantastic cop series called Midtown Blues. The books needs to be read in order to really appreciate the characters, but the series is one of my all time favorites. Very gritty and authentic, based on NYPD.

Dawn I love F.P.Lione too. I have read all their books. I agree with you.

I love Nicole Baart. I just discovered her this year. I finished The Moment Between today and it is going on my favorites list for 2009. :)

It's an interesting question to ponder isn't it.

I'm amazed that you've managed to pick just one author Rel, because my list comprises every single author that lines my bookshelves. Charles Martin and Jane Kirkpatrick are my top two picks, but it almost feels wrong to single them out above all the other amazing writers whose books hold a precious place upon my shelves.

Oh, F.P. Lione!!! Great suggestion. I loved their series, too. I would love to see Sibella Giorello recognized more. She writes with a gritty style, too. Some of the finest character driven suspense I know.

Renee Riva's Saving Sailor is a wonderful story that didn't get a lot of "airplay". She has a sequel that's just out, "Taking Tuscanny". Can't wait to read it.
