Tour de Force by Elizabeth White

Young and committed, Gilly Kincade loves to dance and is making her way from the corps de ballet to soloist with Ballet New York, if she can negotiate the in fighting and jealousies amongst the premier dancers.

Former dancer and now artistic director of the Birmingham Ballet Theatre, Jacob Ferrar has a shameful past he is trying his best to ignore. Immersing himself in his new found faith, the role of father to his young nephew and his work in progress, a spiritual ballet sharing the story of Mary and Jesus, Jacob is entranced when he sees Gilly dance Odette in Swan Lake.

As Jacob and Gilly try to find a way to work together, attraction blossoms but when Gilly is dealt a life altering blow and Jacob's past comes to light, healing seems an impossible dream.

Elizabeth White has opened up the world I wanted to pursue as a five year old in her latest novel, Tour de Force ~ the beauty and discipline of the life of a ballerina!

Tour de Force is the perfect blend of a dramatic plot, challenging spiritual journeys and a fascinating insight into the life of a ballet company and its dancers. Addressing significant moral issues that are prevalent in the world of professional dance, this story is more serious than Elizabeth's previous offerings but equally engaging. Plunged into Gilly's world, I was fascinated by the technical, yet never overwhelming, details of ballet, entranced by Gilly's exuberance, and Jacob's reticence, but above all delighted in a story of grace, forgiveness and love.
Elizabeth White's abilities once again shine brightly, cementing her place as one of my must read authors.
